​Director of Bands

Ryan Ruble is in his third year as the Director of Bands at Belding High School. Prior to moving home to Belding, he spent five years as the Assistant Director of Bands at Allegan Middle and High Schools. Ryan is a 2007 graduate of Belding High School. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Grand Valley State University in 2013. Currently, he is completing his Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music.  He directs the Black Knights Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Pops Ensemble, Black Knights Pep Band, and teaches Music Theory and Digital Music. Mr. Ruble also teaches alongside Mrs. Vellanti for 6th Grade Beginning Band. When not teaching, Mr. Ruble can be found paddling around in his kayak or napping in his hammock.

Laura Hyler is in her eighteenth year of teaching and eleventh year at Belding Area Schools. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Michigan State University in 2003.  In 2007, she received her master's degree from Central Michigan University in Music Education. Ms. Hyler was a co-presenter at the 2014 Michigan Music Conference and will be a co-presenter at the Mid-West Music Conference in December of 2014. Prior to Belding she taught at Fulton Public Schools for four years and Wyoming Public Schools for four years. At Belding Middle School she teaches 6th grade beginning band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band, and history of rock'n'roll. When not at school, Ms. Hyler enjoys spending time with her three children. In her “spare” time she enjoys playing softball, running, and biking.
